Col. Bryan Hilferty is a native of Arlington, MA. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts and a Master’s degree in English from Colorado State University. He began his Army career in 1980. Immediately after 9-11 he was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and Fort Drum in upstate New York. Hilferty quickly deployed to Afghanistan as the Director of Public Affairs and Spokesman for the world’s coalition, fighting terrorism there. He is currently Chief of Public Affairs for U.S. Army Central, responsible for communicating about US land force operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, including Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. His awards and decorations are, to name a few, a Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars, six Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendations and many more. He will talk about the “History and Mission of the U.S. Army Central”.
